Helene has weakened to a tropical storm and is moving north across the Southeast, bringing strong winds and heavy rain in what the National Hurricane Center called "life-threatening" conditions.

Dozens of deaths have been reported across the southeastern U.S., including three in North Carolina. The worst of Helene has passed through the Triad. Our meteorologists say the threat of severe weather is over, but rain could still be possible as we move into the afternoon and evening.
