The Odisha Police Association has urged the immediate withdrawal of suspension orders for five policemen allegedly involved in the torture of an Army officer and the sexual harassment of his fiancée.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former Army chief general (retired) VK Singh and several others reacted strongly to the alleged torture of an Indian Army officer and “sexual assault” of his fiancée inside a police station in Odisha's Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha Police Crime Branch has registered a case against five police officers for the alleged sexual assault of an army officer's fiancee in custody. The alleged incident has sparked a political row with the BJD and Congress slamming the BJP.

Our government never hesitates to take action against the culprits. We are taking steps to give stringent punishment to the culprits,” Majhi told reporters in Keonjhar.

Five Odisha police officers were suspended after an assault on an Army officer's friend, raising concerns about accountability and police conduct in the state.

Odisha police station sexual abuse, Army officer fiancée harassment: The incident reportedly occurred on September 15 when the Army Major and the woman went to the police station to report harassment.

Rahul Gandhi said that crimes against women have become completely uncontrolled and unbridled under the BJP government.
