JoAnn Leleck Elementary School was being demolished to make way for a new, larger building. More than 75 firefighters in Montgomery County battled a large blaze Tuesday night and early Wednesday at a closed elementary school that had been scheduled for demolition, according to the fire department.

A fire is contained after flames broke out at vacant elementary school in Silver Spring, Maryland, on Tuesday night, according to fire officials.
