Greyhound is expected to close the West Loop bus depot in coming weeks, but it remains unclear where passengers will go. Driving the news: Greyhound owner FlixBus' lease at 630 W. Harrison expires on Oct.

Greyhound said its lease is up on Oct. 20, but Greyhound is "working with local officials and stakeholders to determine the path forward."

It was not clear where buses would run if the station closed or whether Greyhound buses would continue running in Chicago at all.

The German-based company FlixMobility purchased Greyhound in the fall of 2021 but the stations went to separate buyers. The Chicago Bus Terminal is now owned by a private real estate company that wishes to sell.

Officials said Sept. 20 was a possible closure date, but buses will keep operating from the terminal for the time being.
