Two people have been killed and others injured in an explosion in Louisville, Kentucky, Tuesday that had prompted a shelter-in-place order.

Two victims remain in critical condition at the University of Louisville Hospital, according to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jason Smith. He said five others are at the hospital and are stable. It remains unclear if the two reported deaths were of the twelve hospitalized or two additional victims.

A "hazardous materials incident" was reported Tuesday afternoon at the address of a Givaudan Sense Colour facility, according to the Louisville Metro Emergency Services.
