Mumbai: Neither the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena nor the Shiv Sena (UBT) headed by his estranged cousin Uddhav Thackeray would hold a rally at Shivaji Park here on November 17. Both the parties had applied for permissions to hold rallies at the famous ground on the same day ahead of the November 20 Maharashtra assembly elections.

In a surprising turn of events, Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has cancelled its rally at the historic Shivaji Park due to pending permissions from the Election Commission. Raj Thackeray would now visit assembly segments in Mumbai and Thane to canvass for MNS candidates.

In preparation for the large gathering, Mumbai Police have implemented a series of traffic restrictions and parking bans across key routes around Shivaji Park, ensuring minimal disruptions to traffic flow in the city.

Mumbai police, in its advisory, listed areas with parking restrictions and road closures. It also suggested alternate routes and issued guidelines for the public to follow.
