Berkshire Hathaway Inc. has slashed its stake in Apple Inc. by almost 50%. That's part of a massive second-quarter selling spree that boosted Warren Buffett’s cash pile to a record $276.9 billion.

Warren Buffett made what he referred to as some “news” about an existing Berkshire Hathaway investment at his annual meeting in Omaha on Saturday. He said that Berkshire has bought more shares of video game maker Activision Blizzard (ATVI) since Microsoft (MSFT) announced plans to acquire it earlier this year.

Berkshire on Saturday reported a 12.6% increase in operating earnings between March 31 and the same time last year. But Buffett said a slowdown in the economy would likely lead to a “majority of our businesses” reporting lower earnings this year than last year.

Berkshire Hathaway exited Paytm-parent firm One97 Communications Friday at a loss of about 40% on the high-profile investment it made more than five years ago. The Warren Buffett firm invested about $260 million in Paytm in 2018, acquiring a 3% stake in the financial services startup at a valuation of about $10 billion.
